My best friend took me to lunch yesterday (I just love her,
we've been pals since Kindergarten). Anyway, we ate at a local
diner style place that does everything home made from their pies
to their salad dressings. She had an omelet and I had biscuits &
sausage gravy. (I had to bring half of it home for dinner.)
On each of our plates was one of those little metal cups that come
with au jus or horseradish sauce at a steak house. It looked like
something golden brown with whipped cream and a blueberry on top.
My friend is more adventurous; she said it tasted like apples. I
tried some and agreed that it did, plus it was delicious. It was
like a puree, but had a very stiff texture. The waitress said it
was made from peaches and mangoes. I didn't get a chance to ask
her what it was called. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I
keeping thinking "compote", but I thought that was a chunky
fruit thing...
