Fresh Fennel

I've been enjoying sliced fennel, cut up oranges and nice greens (the
stronger, slightly bitter ones) in salads this week. Dressed with olive
oil, wine vinegar, salt and cracked pepper. They've been very refreshing
and it is a great combination.
During cocktails, my father would often eat fennel cut into short
sections and dragged through a saucer of good extra virgin olive oil
with salt and cracked pepper in it.
