Question re self-cleaning oven
Question re self-cleaning ovenKeep the grids in. Lock the door, there should be a little lever in front on top of the door and push the start
button. It takes about 5 hours (at least mine does and I have a Hotpoint). It will turn everything into ashes
and then you just wipe that up when it's cooled. The only downside besides the length of time is the
smell. Do it on a day when you can open a few windows.
I think it's great tho. Does a good job and the inside is still nice and shiny.

I need help. I have a Whirlpool (electric) oven and it is ready to be
cleaned, but I goofed and lost the direction booklet. I see from recent
posts it is advisable to take the grids out first, but I haven't a clue as
to how to set it, other than to push the "self-clean" button. Do I need to
set a time for it or is it automatic? And approximately how long does it
take?
I would so appreciate some advice. We will be having a small wedding
reception here soon and I want to be ready for inspection!
While I'm at it, I see that there was a cookbook from this group, which by
the way, has been one of the most interesting news groups. You are a great
bunch of people. Is the cookbook printed or an on-line version? In any
case, is it possible to buy one, even though I haven't contributed
anything--yet.
Thanks in advance!
