Cross over? Not really. A person with type 1 produces no insulin whatever.
A person with type 2 either produces not enough insulin (rare) or too much
insulin and is insulin resistant. It is possible after many year that a
type 2 will stop producing any insulin, but not very likely. Some type 2's
do use injectable insulin but that doesn't necessarily mean they don't
produce any of their own. And some type 1's can be insulin resistant.
