my 2cents,
I now put both silver (flat ware) and china in the dishwasher; gold rim
china; however, I do have one good set that I use seldom and when I do, I
wash by hand. All of the silver pots, etc. I got rid of a long time ago.
The dishwasher does a fine job of polishing the silver.
