Sharon, the OP is dead set on a rack on which to drape waxed paper over the
food, not wanting to put a cover in the dishwasher. Seems to me that the
rack would have to go into the dishwasher, regardless of discarding the
waxed paper.

Personally, I prefer cooking in the microwave using a dish that has a lid,
be it glass or plastic container. If I'm reheating something on a plate, I
usually just drape a paper towel directly over the food.
