The same way peanuts can get into foods with which you'd not associate
peanuts... many food processing plants prepare an array of foods under
the same roof using the same equipment... could very conceivably be
wheat flour products being prepared in close proximity to cured meats
and with the same machinery. Food companys are required to make known
on the label whether a product may contain a typical allergen, like
gluten and nuts.
