last Halloween someone posted that Just Born, Inc. was having
Halloween Peeps manufactured in China. i emailed them to
express my concern, since i won't knowingly buy food items
from China (which means i pass up any produce not labeled with
country of origin. i'm a 'scratch cook', so i avoid premade
crap).
Just Born CS replied promptly that only the individually
wrapped Halloween treats were made in China, and that it was
only because they were producing them as a test market & China
could produce the molds faster & less expensively than they
could, but that in no way would regular production be moving
away from PA. ok. i can deal with that. my Peeps were safe.
so, last Friday i got a pile of boxes from UPS (i hate
shopping. i like my computer) & there was a box addressed to
me from Just Born.
i received a box of Peppermint Stars (new & quite yummy), a
box of Christmas Trees & a box of green Peeps & a thank you
note saying all were from the Bethleham PA plant, and thank
you for contacting them about my concerns.
i also get calendars from Turkey Hill every year, with
coupons (i bought a carton of their high end ice cream that
was grainy. we determined the store let it melt & refroze it).
