Where does "not remembering to take them into the store until the
checkout line with your stuff on it is moving, then making a mad dash
back to the parking lot for the bags and back in again before the
cashier gets to the end of your stuff and you hold up the whole line
and the people behind you begin to toe-tap exasperatedly" place in the
pantheon of cloth grocery bag loserdom? :-)

(I did that last Saturday.)
