Are egg yokes from vegetaian fed chickens supposed to be dark orange?

Marigold (actually pot calendula) petals are used in Georgian cookery.
I bought some when I was in Tbilisi 6 years ago. Since the petals were
straight from the farmers' market, after a while little critters
appeared. (Added protein.)
