The above will kill a lot of it. Not all spam comes from GG, of course,
but the amount that does seem to be increasing every few seconds.

Try some different feeds; perhaps you can find better filtering. They
won't be filtering GG spam, so you'll still have to do that yourself; but
between a well-filtered feed and local GG filtering, you'd be amazed at
how little spam you'll see. I basically don't see any spam in here, for
instance, except for what people reply to and quote.
