No. The fame of shark's fin soup is just a Chinese version of snob
appeal. The shark's fin is notable for its texture, not its taste,
and there's nothing special about the taste of the soup. It's the
rarity and expense of shark fin that matters to the braggart host that
serves it. Substituting a cheap imitation means there's nothing to
