maybe thirty years ago, when i lived in d.c., i went with my
girlfriend out to a super giant store in rockville, a suburb some
fifteen miles (?) distant. as we walked through the parking lot to
the store something seemed wrong, or at least not right, in some vague
way. all of a sudden it hit me: 'my god, everyone here is white!'

these days, you would have to go considerably further out of town,
maybe to utah.
