Yes. There needs to enough to bury the chicken. But you can save it
and reuse it a couple of times.

No, it's a mistranslation. It's a kind of thick tissue paper, used in
some paper lanterns. In Chinese they are both pronounced as "sa ji".
(This is a classic Chinese dish.) Parchment will not work as it is not
porous. Cheesecloth layered would be better.

Yes for salt baked, because in this case it is used to transfer heat
to the chicken.
