Summer is a good time to minimize the use of an old, hot, large oven.
Convenient uses for a toaster oven basically include anything that
fits and won't spatter so much as to make cleanup problematical. In
the past couple of weeks, I've used it for:
baking potatoes (sometimes partially pre-zapped)
roasting herbed and oiled potato wedges
baking frozen french fries
baking a key lime pie
baking a meat loaf
roasting dry rubbed pork tenderloin
making garlic bread and garlic flour tortilla
keeping cutlets warm while making a pan sauce
warming plates (door open, rack pulled partly out so they'll fit
and balance)
oh, and toasting, too.
I would recommend you put your oven thermometer in the toaster oven a
few times to get an idea of calibration. The dials are seldom
accurate. -aem
