Oh, it's not excruciating pain, and I can assure you that it's over
rather quickly, and the residual discomfort is felt almost exclusively
by the owner. Most folks here eat commercially slaughtered beef, and if
you want to place a dog's emotional suffering above a cow's, well, OK,
but I assure you that the pain inflicted upon the dog pales in
comparison to what cattle suffer in slaughtering operations.
