Nope, they're a different diameter. I discovered the difference
because my old 6 quart Classic developed a crack at the rim so I sent
it back to Farberware. They sent me back the new Classic with the
Stainless steel encapsulated bottom, a very nicely made pot (with a
letter explaining that they no longer make the old style). But I was
disappointed in that the new 6 quart pot is a full inch smaller
diameter and has higher sides; the old one was my favorite pot for
frying pork chops, chicken breasts and such as it would hold six
nicely. Because of it's relatively high sides there was little
spatter, I used it as a braizer, the new small diameter pot barely
holds four. The new Classic is a very nice pot for the price but I
think Farberware screwed up in making their new line a smaller
diameter, if anything they should have made them a larger diameter.
