Exactly so. Whether you're on a septic system or not is generally dictated
by whether there is a sanitary sewer system available to your property. We
live in a neighborhood where all homes are on septic. We liked the lot,
and the need for a septic system was a secondary issue. As far as garbage
disposals are concerned, they are generally not a good idea with a septic
system. However, In-Sink-Erator does make a model especially for use with
septic. During the grinding cycle a special enzyme is injected to help
digest the refuse. We're considering having one of those models installed.
