The vegetables you've chosen are flavorful enough in summer not to need
much in the way of spice.

Are you looking for just any spices (could be curry, could be an Italian
herb blend, could be my personal favorites including garlic and lemon
pepper), or do you want something authentically African? Afric is a
vast continent with many cuisines and cultures so we'd have to narrow it
down.

When you say that you don't want to use hot peppers, does that mean
you're avoiding products like Tabasco that come from hot peppers?

You might look into general recipes in Ethiopian cuisine, take the spice
blend, and apply them to your dish.
