The ones I buy look very similar to coffee filters, but they're not.
They're not 'paper' per se, but are made out of some
loose-woven 'stuff' that lets the oil through quickly but catches all
the bits of whatever you want to get rid of.

I know what you mean about the coffee filters, they just don't work for
cooking oil. These are specifically made for oil and work well. The
ones I buy are made locally, but I am pretty sure you can find
something similar in your neck of the woods.

I use these to be exact, not that it tells you all that much...
