OK You guys try living on $708 a month . . . and that's BEFORE the
Medicaid deductible which, for me, is over $200 a month. North Dakota
discourages folks from even filing for SSDI because they don't want
all those freeloaders moving here to take advantage of the taxpayers.
- like they're lining up at the borders to spend winters here!
I do get subsidized housing (one third of my check) and food stamps
(enough to enable me to eat healthy stuff), but my disposable income
is less than $300 a month when you count phone ($14 - no long
distance) Internet Service ($25) and electricity ($40 winter and about
$75 summer - I have an oxygen concentrator, an air conditioner, a
computer, stove and refrigerator, 2 radios and lights. No TV. Also no
car - very tough in ND.
Life is interesting but ultimately good, :-)
