Oh, there are tons and tons of places there in DC to hang out. It is
a very happening city...aside from all the monuments, museums..etc....
Georgetown and the Dupont Circle area are just one of many lively
areas in DC.

I lived in the DC area for years back in the 70s and early 80s. It
along with the SF bay area, is one of my favorite places.

It has also become a great restaurant and food town these past few
years.
