I used up the last of my Mervin's gift cards in September without a
problem, but this week my SIL's gift card was refused at the register.
The local stores figure to close their doors after December 31st.
Liquidators are in and, yes, a la Linens and Things, they are raising
prices and refusing to honor sale prices on items already advertised as
on sale or clearance.

Linens and Things is taking online orders and allow gift cards for those
purchases. Mervin's may be doing the same.
