Yes, it is. On more than one level too. Where were his real life
friends or family? He didn't have to die! Emergency rooms are used
as Dr's offices by the uninsured in California. We also have free
clinics scattered around and cities like LA have many - some of which
are affiliated with teaching universities.

Unfortunately, I know just how he felt because I've been there. He
didn't have enough energy to get out of bed and endure sitting in the
ER for whatever time it took to be seen. Getting there would have
been impossible unless he called a cab (with no energy, even that's
too hard) - or someone who insists and assists.

What I don't understand is he was a productive citizen, so what
happened to his health insurance? He could be a poster boy for
national health insurance!
