It's actually not bizarre, and really quite common. Here in Oz, we are very
particular about what species of fish we eat. I've been eating fish since I
was about 10yo, and have never had it. We were schooled on Ciguatera even
back then.


The cold allodynia (temp reversal) suffered by the woman shows that she had a
severe case of the poisoning. That's common in severe cases as well.
