A lot depends on how you'll use it and your pocketbook. For most folks a
second hand blender for under $5 from a yard sale will be quite adequate. A
few years ago I bought my brother a KitchenAid blender for Christmas, he
said it works great and is extremely quiet... they're a bit pricey, I got
him the one with the brushed nickle finish, cost like $50 extra. I have a
45 year old Oster... about all I use it for is smoothies, any $9.99 blender
from Walmart will work for smoothies.
