Funny you should say that. My local store has self check
stations that are not conducive to buying more than a few
items. They're very small and really awkward. I found myself
at a Stop and Shop last week and the self check lines are
actual ... lines, with a whole belt to load your purchases onto.

I would still be inclined to use a cashier, myself, for the reason
other people mentioned, saving jobs. Still, it was interesting to
see.
