The weeks prior to Mother's Day are hell, what with all the
advertising on what to buy for your mother and how to celebrate the
day with her.

I'd probably make my mom some Spanish rice. She loved it. Her mother
made it for Mom's birthday dinners. She used rice, some kinda tomato
product, onions, green peppers, and BACON.
Then we'd break out the croquet set, even though it's only 46 degrees
today. Mom always used the yellow mallet and ball. We called her,
"The Yellow Streak." (smile)
