OK. Note that I haven't transcribed the procedure for making the cao niaow
(sticky rice), yet. I'll get to it. Just one of too many irons I have in
the fire.

It's really well described in the above web site. I hope you're able to
figure out how to access it. Meanwhile:

Steamed sticky (sweet) rice with mangoes (Cao Niaow Ma Muang)

My wife and daughter make this often. It's very good! Serves 8.

4 cups glutinous rice

1/2 cup yellow mung beans

1 cup thick coconut milk
2 cups thin coconut milk
4 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar

Mangoes

1. Cook the glutinous rice. [see above]

2. Toast the mung beans in a dry wok until they are brown and crisp.

3. Combine 1 cup of thick coconut milk and 1/2 tsp salt in a saucepan.
Bring to a boil and remove from heat immediately. Stir until the salt is
dissolved. Let cool and pour into a serving pitcher. Set aside.

4. Combine the 2 cups thin coconut milk, 3-1/2 tsp salt and the 1/2 cup
sugar. Mix until the sugar and salt are completely dissolved.

5. Put the rice in a large mixing bowl. Stir in the ingredients from Step 4
and cover. Let stand around 5 minutes or until the rice has absorbed the
liquid.

6. Stir the mixture thoroughly, but gently, and put it on a serving
platter. Peel the mangoes, slice them lengthwise along the seed, then
crosswise into pieces about 1/2 inch thick. Arrange them around the steamed
rice and sprinkle all with the toasted mung beans.

7. Serve with the remaining coconut milk, which each diner may pour over
theirs according to taste.
