Default Express lines in the supermarket - a cute story

I love my local grocery store. For a small town, population fewer
than 5,000, it has a fairly good selection and good quality. All of
the employees are helpful. If a checker does not have anyone in her
line, she moves over and bags for another checker. There are no
express lines. If the open lines start getting too long there is a
call for someone to come and open another one. I even see the manager
and assistant manager bagging groceries.
