In Sweden they eat surstromming, canned herring that has
fermented in the
can so the can bulges like a football. I've luckily never
been around when it
was served and most of the wives of my acquaintance won't
let it be opened
anywhere near the house, the scent is so horrible.

It's also illegal to carry on a can of it onto a plane in
the event the can ruptures.
