Animals breed instinctively without concern for how their offspring will
survive, which is why they so often don't. Humans are supposed to be able to
balance instinctive urges against rational forethought. So, we're supposed to
be able to weigh desires for sexual intercourse against our ability to raise
children. If people simply have sex before they are in any way capable of
providing their offspring with even a basic quality of life, they are alas
breeding like animals do.
