In today's world where family and friends are far-flung, when people
make the effort to come to a funeral the "dead spread" is a nice way to
reconnect, share memories of the deceased, and catch up with events.
When my mother-in-law passed away her children invited all the memorial
service attendees to lunch in a very nice CT historic "country inn"
style restaurant. She would have LOVED it and the two children had no
problem with paying for the tab from the estate. It was a nice tribute
to her and the way she raised her kids.
