We have a local supermarket chain who has the best meat counter of any of
the supermarket chains in Phoenix, and their ground beef is the best I've
ever tasted. They frequently mark down their packages that are still
several days prior to their sell by date to 50% off. I just bought a
package that weighed a bit over 4 pounds for $7.59. It's still perfectly
fresh, but as soon as I get it home I use what I need and package the
remainder for the freezer. If I buy several packages, I portioin it all
out for specific uses and freeze.
