Perhaps she was concerned about portion control? Calorie dense foods?
Did you ask why she felt shakes weren't a good idea but milk and ice
cream was okay?

mass produced and marketed sausages cover a wide gamut and usually
contain much more sodium than homemade sausage or plain ground pork.
Someone with CHF doesn't need all that salt. Perhaps for a group
situation where people vary in their understanding she should have
spelled out what the differences are.
