"Cherries for Charity" is an annual promotion at our 5 local SuperValu
store chain. This year cherries are $1.48 lb with (as always) 25
cents per lb going to our womens' shelter and our rape&abuse crisis
center. It will raise many thousands of dollars.

These are the best cherries we get all year. The event happens when
the cherries are best and most reasonable. Last week beautiful
cherries were still almost $4 lb. This year they are big and crisp and
sweet. They push it in the stores - volunteers from service clubs
handing out samples. Also, they put pretty buckets in the coffee
shops at the counter for tasting.
