And that was oriented to kiddie interests, like Twilight and Hannah

I suspect most trolls are not virtual juvies but rather consider themselves
smarter than most posters here. They would fit the profile of a "college"-
educated male with pseudo-anarchist leanings who considers disruption to be
a remedy for what they perceive as a loss of interest in important issues
like war and famine and...well, I'm guessing...

Back in the days when I was a relay op on Bitnet, the trolls who were not
just drunken Electrical Engineering students, were Yale students. They
would join channels and completely disrupt the conversation with rude
comments which they then said were based on free speech (as interpreted by
the US Supreme Court...they actually said that).

When we tried to explain that the channels were international and not every
one had the same interpretation of free speech as the US Supreme Court did,
they became aggressive (as it were). So, basically, their ideas were
juvenile and not properly thought out and they used their ability to create
mischief to express their disapproval of what they perceived as
trivializing of serious issues around the world.
