Appetizers were rushed due to the umbrella breaking in the hot sun!!!
Everyone commented how good they were, but they were not really eaten with
gusto.
> Main meal:
> Seasoned brisket (mother in law's recipe, really good)
> Oven BBQ brisket (a crowd pleaser)
Brisket was well recieved, and virtually none left over. It came out very
good and tender.
> Baked beans (not like you think, limas, greens, soy, bacon and
> other good stuff)
This is really good (furnished by a neighbor lady) and the dish was scraped
clean!!
> Mediterranean potato salad (a neighbor is bringing it, don't know
> what to expect)
The potato salad that she raved about was rather normal. A normal potato
salad with radish slices and some other stuff. Not Mediterranian at all.
It was good, but not great.
> Tomato, mozzarella, basil salad (yawn!! another neighbor is
> bringing it, and I am thankful)
This was eaten readily, and I have never cared for this salad! Go figure.
> Cucumber salad (my favorite)
This was good and was well received. The left overs were even better.
> Dinner rolls (Of a size for making a sandwich with the meat or
> not)
Came from the big store, and were okay, but nothing really special.
> Pie (unknown, as still another neighbor's contribution)
Fresh cherry pie and was very good, went over very well if you were lucky
enough to get a piece.
> Strawberry Rhubarb cake (?? yet another neighbor's doings, sounds
> weird to me)
Was kind of odd. It was more like a crumb cake or a cobbler. I do not care
for Rhubarb, so I only took a taste. It did not go over well.
> Fresh strawberries (to put on the cake)
These just got eaten without the cake, and were very good.
We will offer a selection of wine, beer, margaritas, iced tea,
> lemonade, and some sodas.
I did not get enough wine, and had too much beer. I actually had to dip
into our private reserve of wines to keep it flowing! Enough beer left over
for us to last all year.
Overall, a great time and good food. Today I returned all of the borrowed
patio furniture and returned the dishes left behind.
