sf,

I've said it before and I'll say it again, they both SUCK!!!

The tourists go there and leave Philly thinking they've had the best Philly
cheesesteak on the planet just by name, not taste.

Every few years I'd give them a try, hoping there was some prior mistake
and have always left feeling embarrassed for Philadelphia at the crap
quality they both sell.

We don't serve Chicago's famous Italian beef sandwich and they don't dish
out our Philly cheesesteaks either. I'd call it "brotherly love/respect"?
In any case, at least Philly is out of the pizza wars.

Being the broken record I can be, on an early visit to Philadelphia, ex and
I sat at Moriarty's Pub for dinner and I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and
beer. Philly cheesesteak arrived covered in orange goo. Stunned by the
sight of it, I looked across the table at my wife and asked, "what the ****
is this???" She burst out laughing! Whiz! :P

My dear, you go about making cheesesteaks however you please but unless
you're in Philly eating one, it's just a cheesesteak!
