I think you mean "Kokuho Rose" rice. Would it really
be necessary to freeze it to kill the bugs? It was
my understanding that white rice keeps indefinitely
as received, that only brown rice has weevil eggs
in it and will become wormy if kept too long.

I've been told that among Japanese eating brown rice
is associated with poverty. It's a poor people's food.
Everybody else eats polished rice.
