I don't know. Maybe all of the above. Cost is probably the biggest
one; I'm trying to fully-fund my 401(k) and my Roth IRA and a health
spending account while sending a kid to college. There's not much
left for food and gasoline after that -- of course I don't *have* to
fully fund all the accounts. But also Daughter is dabbling with being
a vegetarian, so while she was home for summer I cooked a lot of
vegetarian meals, and they weren't bad :-)

I think vegetarianism is a bit extreme, but most Americans probably
eat too much meat. At least DD is still eating eggs and dairy.
