Thanks, friends ate the last two slices yesterday, as per the pic with a
large dollop of thickened cream..... then my mate even took the jar of
leftover syrup home with him!!!

While making the syrup, it calls for the juice of a couple of oranges, but
I had a fresh bottle of OJ in the fridge, and used that instead.
It must have been ok, because my mate snaffled the jar with the leftover
syrup, and is going to use it at his 'convenience' at home, over icecream
etc.
