Sounds like a simplified version of Bruce U. "Utah" Phillips' (the Golden Voice
of the Great Southwest) extended tale of the old wagon train days, when anyone
who bitched about the food instantly became the cook.

The punch line had some tough guy spitting out a mouthfull and exclaiming:

"Blechhh! Tastes like moose turd pie!........ Good, though."
