Wondering why you didn't follow through and have the prescription
rechecked? All of that is free no matter who is at fault. I think my
optometrist screwed up and wrote a left eye prescription for the right
eye. The vendor has recalibrated where I should be seeing through the
lens and the new pair is free. They said that if I still have a
problem and it turns out that the prescription was incorrect, it's
still free!

Sometimes I even put it in the food.
