Default Shipping wine to the US from Italy

In the past I've brought a few cases of wine back from France with me.
The way I did this was the bring styro/cardboard wine shippers with
me as checked baggage. I bought some interesting wines, and then
packed them myself, and checked them as return baggage. You can do
this pretty easily, and while it can be a bit of an pain lugging
around the extra baggage, it's much cheaper than shipping.
