Where I am, 2400bd is a tertiary backup, in case the high-speed links go
down and for some reason 3G and/or GSM doesn't work. But it can still
get the job done. And from what I read about U.S. network coverage, in
some places somewhere on the interstate in the middle between A and B
one would be lucky to have enough signal to have even a slow link.
And before you say that's far-fetched - BTDT, fixing things remotely
using laptop+cellphone 100 miles from the nearest town.
