Make your own, Carnation still sells malt powder, even in flavors if you
want it. I make my own in the blender, I don't have an old Hamilton
Beach malt maker. My paternal grandmother ran a malt and burger shop
across the street from a high school for years. I was the soda jerk
there as my high school's holidays were different from the one near her
shop. Had the old malt mixer with six stands on it.
Grannie got on my case about too much ice cream in the malts because
those girls in the pleated wool skirts and the cashmere sweaters MADE me
put extra ice cream in them. This was in the fifties, wore the paper
cap, bow tie, and sleeve garters too. Great fun back then, even though I
worked for free, the owner being my grannie and all.
