I have a Melita cone filter stashed away for just that reason.
And a couple of ways to heat water without electricity.

Several areas here in SoCal lost power yesterday (9/27) due to overload
on the power system from air conditioning during all-time record heat.
113 degrees F in Los Angeles. No earthquake required. The prediction
is possible thunderstorms tomorrow, which can also cause power outages.

Last ditch backup is instant. No, I take that back. I have some
caffeine tablets.
