There's a clue in where she bucked the letter. No 1 is Marketing!
Quality comes second. Please note that "quality" usually means
"quality assurance/control". These people are tasked with ensuring
that the product actually made and shipped lives up to the "standards"
set up my somebody else in product development. QA/QC never decides
*what* to make, or from what they make it. Marketing and ProdDev have
simple critera for their decisions. 1: Will it sell? 2: Can we make it
cheaper than we can sell it for? 3: Will it help if we call it
something else (Like this crap cereal contains "Flavor nuggets" and
"Fruit gems", so your crumbcruncher will love it. Guaranteed or your
$4.98 back!"

Alex, a bit of a cynic on this topic. And who will not eat anything
