Can beans be prepared as a snack food?

Another idea is to cook beans until they turn into a paste - this is
effective with chick peas, pinto beans, fava beans, peas, red beans, and
black beans, at minimum. Then you can use the paste like a dip or spread
(for crackers, chips, whatever) either as is or with various additions,
e.g. chiles, soy sauce, pieces of cut-up ham - the variations are endless.
